Kathy Harter

Kathy Harter is a Los Angeles native and a full time writer. Stories are a way of punishing the guilty or creating a world of make believe that we might want to be real. Writing is sometimes about having fun and sometimes a way to vent. Stories take us anywhere we want to go. Stories teach and let us think, make us laugh, make us cry, and often just pass the time in an enjoyable way.

A story might start by remembering something in my past that opens a door to characters and events, not that  it happened but that a happy memory gets to linger during the writing. Sometimes an event on the news infuriates me and I can incorporate those feelings into a more satisfying end. Or about finding a community, about fitting in, and about a  little kindness in troubled times.  And sometimes I write a fictional character that I'd planned on becoming when I was twelve. Funny how things work out. Those characters are always braver, funnier, and more interesting, That's why it's called fiction.
